Applying to Southwestern Michigan College is easy, fast, and free! 

No essays or letters of recommendation are required. Just click “Apply Now” and fill out the simple form. 

You’ll receive an admissions decision via email and/or mail in one to two weeks.

  • Admission Policy

    Southwestern Michigan College is an equal opportunity, equal access college with an open-door admission policy. You are eligible for admission if:

    • You have a high school diploma, GED or have completed a home school program.
    • You are still in high school and have the written permission of your high school principal or guidance counselor to attend classes at SMC. Students ages 14-15 must also have the written permission of a parent or guardian. Students under the age of 14 are not permitted to take classes at SMC.

    Final admissions decisions rest with the college. Admission to SMC does not necessarily guarantee admission to a specific program of study.

    Applicants to Southwestern Michigan College are considered potential students and must abide by the Code of Student Conduct. 

    Applicants with a criminal record will be subject to the college’s Criminal Background Check procedure.
